On March 3, the Indiana Subcontractors Association (ISA) hosted its annual Construction Networking Event of the Year (CNEY) at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis.

ISA strives to provide a place for Indiana construction professionals to connect with each other, face-to-face, on an annual basis. ISA prides itself as the premier organization for subcontractors in Indiana to network with industry peers and forge new relationships that will have an astounding impact on their companies.

Making Connections
This year's trade show – sponsored by Indiana Construction Roundtable – featured record-breaking attendance with over 100 vendors spread across the J.W. Marriott ballroom floor, as well as a networking and awards luncheon – sponsored by Ryan Fireprotection Inc. – that highlighted Indiana’s most impressive general contractors and projects from the past year.

Companies participating in the General Contractor + Construction Manager and Owner, Developer, + Design pavilions set up cocktail tables manned by one or two representatives from each firm to showcase their company’s products and services, and network with fellow professionals.

During the pavilions, representatives from some of Indiana’s most reputable firms were stationed around the ballroom and met with ISA members in a “speed-dating” fashion. This speed-dating networking technique, which ISA has used for more than a decade at this event, gives association members the opportunity to meet a large number of industry peers in a short amount of time – all while learning valuable information about prospective clients.

Recognizing Indiana’s Best
ISA presents the General Contractor of the Year awards each year to recognize the general contractors that scored the highest in the Awards Program.

Nominees for General Contractor of the Year Over $100 Million were AECOM Hunt, Browning Construction, F.A. Wilhelm, Messer Construction, Meyer Najem, Pepper Construction, The Hagerman Group, Turner Construction, and Weddle Bros. Building Group.

  • Subcontractors' Choice - Messer Construction
  • Project of the Year Over $10 Million - Meyer Najem, Humane Society of Hamilton County
  • Project of the Year Under $10 Million - Wurster Construction, FC Tucker Real Estate Office

ISA’s leadership is confident that the Construction Networking Event of the Year is the place to encourage connection, dialogue, and innovation for years to come.

“At the end of the day, it’s truly about the membership and everyone in this room,” said David Peterson, Executive Vice President and COO at ERMCO, Inc. and outgoing ISA President at the Networking Luncheon. “All I ask of you is to keep this moving forward, get engaged, get involved, and add value. What we do every day is extremely difficult, but extremely rewarding, so think about how you can make a difference.”
